Welcome to our Florida Keys Website! I am going to briefly describe our house.

You are looking at a 3 bedroom 2 bath Elevated CBS Home located near Mile Marker 24 in the Florida Keys. Some highlights include: Spa, Full length 60 foot Concrete Seawall complete with dock posts and quick/easy deepwater access to either the Atlantic or Gulf located on a sparkling clean flow-through canal. Built in 1986 by a local homebuilder for himself, he lived in it a couple years until selling it to his parent-in-laws. The in-laws eventually passed away, and the home was sold to us in March 2007 so we consider ourselves the 3rd owners. The home has never been rented, or owned by anyone outside the family except for us. We have added nice furnishings, landscaping, screen room, poured concrete under the house, storage shed, upgraded our seawall, upgraded the fish-cleaning, and appliances since we have been here.

CBS construction is important for several factors not limited to hurricanes and termites, and we get a discount on our insurance for having our roof constructed to hurricane specs. The downstairs storage enclosure (AKA "Mother in Law Room") is permitted and legal and all required inspections were performed (and signed off on). The storage shed did not require any permits because of its size, height, and cost. (10' Wide, 8' Deep, 7' Tall, less than $1000). The Screen enclosure required no permits because it cost less than $2500. I have researched and obtained copies of all permits and everything contained in my file with Monroe County Building Department since Summerland Key Cove Subdivision was developed (circa late 1960s).

We entertain regularly and the house sleeps 8 in major comfort (3 generations even, all upstairs). In Monroe County, unless you have a home built in the 70s, the downstairs enclosure has a lot of rules attached to it we won't go into that here. Suffice to say ours is legally permitted and passed the Monroe County buyer/seller inspection in early 2007 when we purchased the property. Monroe County Florida Website is located here.

In my opinion as an avid boater and fisherman, Summerland Key is the #1 location in the Lower Keys to own. Crystal Clear flow-through canals, and easy/quick/deep-water access to either the Gulf or Atlantic says it all. There is plenty of lower keys properties available with stinky canals, shallow water access, or no boating access at all. Trust me if you are a boater, look to Summerland Key, Especially if you have a big deep draft boat! Marathon or Key West itself is the only other places with quick/easy/deep water access to both the Gulf and Atlantic in the Lower Florida Keys. (I consider Marathon middle-keys due to the distance from Key West).
